Why a B2B site gets traffic but no enquiries

Traffic sells nothing by itself. If a site has impressions and clicks but no enquiries, the break is usually in the chain: query, landing page, trust, next step.
The problem is often a broken chain, not an absence of traffic
Impressions, clicks and article reads are not enough for a B2B site. If a visitor arrives from search but cannot tell why your company should be trusted with the task and what to do right now, traffic becomes a good-looking but useless metric.
Where the path from query to enquiry usually breaks
- People land somewhere that cannot sell a solution: a blog post, a document, a licence page or a service page instead of a commercial section.
- A service page does not explain which situation it is for.
- The page is full of generalities and has no recognisable case, number or artefact.
- The next step is "contact us" with no promise of what happens after the first call.
- Internal links lead from articles into more articles rather than towards the service.
Why a blog rarely brings leads on its own
An article can collect impressions and even engagement, but without a proper bridge into the commercial contour it stays an educational dead end. The reader learned something useful but never found out which service solves their task, which case to look at and what to do next.
What a commercial page needs to actually work
- A recognisable entry situation: when a business usually comes with this task.
- A short proof block: numbers, a case, an artefact, a concrete result.
- A next step without fluff: what the client gets after the first contact.
- Links from articles and neighbouring services, so the reader can move towards the decision.
What to check first when enquiries are almost absent
- Which URLs actually receive impressions and clicks from search.
- Where articles and internal links really lead.
- Whether service pages have one strong statement, a short proof and a concrete next step.
- Whether search weight leaks into document, legal and utility pages.
What result the business needs
Not "more traffic", but a site where useful content leads to the right service, service pages turn interest into a conversation, and the technical layer does not blur the commercial meaning with junk pages and soft-404s. Only then does growing visibility start producing enquiries.

Technical SEO signals that already hold a B2B site back
A site that grows in iterations almost inevitably collects search debris: soft-404s, duplicates, old URLs, utility pages in the index and weak signals for commercial sections.
FrontendWhy a page for a complex IT service cannot be just a long description
For a complex service it is not enough to describe what you can do. A client must understand within a couple of screens whether this is their problem, why you can be trusted, and what happens after the first contact.
